MA Tieliang
Area of Practice
Mr. Ma specializes in patent prosecution in physical sciences, and electrical and electronic engineering fields.
His practice focuses on inventions relating to physics, computer hardware and software, telecommunication devices and methods, semiconductors and related processes, photovoltaics, printing and imaging equipment, automation, electromechanical integration and household electric appliances. Mr. Ma has handled over 2000 patent applications in his twenty years of practice, meaning he has vast experience in drafting applications and conducting infringement analysis. In addition, he has counseled clients on application compilations, patent applications, consultations and searches, reexaminations and invalidations, infringement analysis, administrative procedures, litigation and administrative measures against infringement, and patent licensing and transfer.
Working Experience
Mr. Ma joined Lifang & Partners in 2009 to head the firm¡¯s patent and trademark section. He previously worked as the Director of the Patent and Trademark Department of DeHeng Law Offices. Before that, from 1988 he was at China Patent Agent (HK) Ltd (CPA) specializing in patent protection, after he became a licensed patent attorney in the same year. He was at one time the Manager of CPA¡¯s Electrical Section, and Deputy-Director of CPA¡¯s Beijing Office.
Education Mr. Ma earned his bachelor's degree from the Department of Engineering Physics, Tsinghua University in 1970, where he remained as a faculty member for eleven years and earned his M.A. of Solid State Physics in 1980. From 1980 to 1988, he worked for China¡¯s Standardization Institute undertaking research work, and participated in the drafting and amendment of many state standards. In 1995, he attended courses on the European Patent Law in the United Kingdom.
Qualifications Mr. Ma became a licensed patent attorney in 1988. He practices in both Chinese and English.
